Ohio General Assembly Passes Senator Morano’s Comprehensive Nursing Education Bill

On December 17, the Ohio General Assembly passed Senate Bill 89, comprehensive legislation that addresses the critical shortage of nursing educators in Ohio.

Senator Sue Morano (D-Lorain), a Registered Nurse who still works three nights a week in the Intensive Care Unit at Community Health Partners Hospital in Lorain, sponsored the bill to ensure that qualified applicants to nursing schools are not turned away due to faculty shortages.

"This is an exciting day for Ohio, for its nurses, and for those who want to become nurses," said Senator Morano. "Today, we took another step toward ending the nursing shortage in this state."

Senator Morano was first elected to represent the 13th Ohio Senate District in 2006 and is up for re-election in 2010. Click here to visit her campaign website.
